Lil Yachty brought a pizza party to Hollywood, throwing one heck of a bash at Delicious Pizza off of Sunset Boulevard on Saturday (Sept. 16).
The initial concept of the pop-up emerged from his one true love: pizza. "I'm just like, I love pizza. Let's not do a regular pop-up. Let's do a pop-up at a pizzeria," he told Billboard. "I eat this every day so my creative director came up with the design."
Fans patiently waited in line behind the pizzeria, camping out with excitement in a hidden parking lot for the arrival of Lil Boat. Many patrons already experienced the pop-up, consuming an assortment of pizza and purchasing merchandise embellished with the words "Yachty's Pizzeria," yet they returned to the line because rumor had it that the Atlanta rapper would make an appearance. And they were indeed correct. The 20-year-old visited fans outside, signing autographs and taking selfies -- all while eating pizza, of course.
Admitting he has eaten pizza everyday for the past 15 years, the king of teens, a true lover of pepperoni and bacon pizza from California Pizza Kitchen, truly cares about the youth and it shows with how interactive he was with them at the pop-up.
"I hope they [fans] get to meet me and hope they get what they came for. It would suck the way I was there and don't get what you came for like you never get to meet the person you're waiting on or you don't get to get your picture," Yachty shared from personal experience.
In partnership with Bravado, a merchandise and brand managing company, Lil Boat launched his first pop-up at Famous Ben's Pizzeria in New York City's SoHo. Running this weekend only, the merchandise offered at the Los Angeles pop-up included limited-edition short-sleeve tees for $30, long-sleeve tees for $40, a hoodie for $60, hats for $30, and a satin bomber jacket for $100.
Now, not a stranger to style and merch, Yachty is currently Nautica's brand Creative Designer, recently presenting his collection during New York Fashion Week. He, along with many celebrities, have collaborations and partnerships with major brands, but, among all, he considers Tyler, The Creator's merchandise the best in the game. "The merch is amazing, the shoes is crazy. Either him or Kanye West. I mean Kanye has the shoes, Tyler has the clothes," the "One Night" rapper says.
Lil Yachty scored his first Billboard 200 top five this year with his debut album, Teenage Emotions. He garnered success with the mixtape Lil Boat, which put him on the map, and just recently teased that the follow-up was on its way on Instagram. King Boat couldn't reveal a definitive date for the effort, but he did confirm the project would come out later this year.
"I can't say anything yet but it's coming this year," he said proudly. "It'll be better than Teenage Emotions -- way better. It'll be mostly rap tracks, not really none of that singing stuff."
