Danielle Outlaw will become the first Black Woman to serve as police chief in Portland history.

Portland, Oregon's Mayor Ted Wheeler takes Affirmative Action announcing that Danielle Outlaw will become the first Black Woman to serve as police chief in Portland history. Portland the Whitest City in the USA.

 

Danielle Outlaw, 41, is a 19-year veteran of the Oakland Police Department who has served as a deputy chief since 2013. She'll be introduced at a news conference in Portland on Thursday. She'll start at an undetermined date before October, according to the mayor's office. (Courtesy of Mayor's Office)
